HACCI WA celebrated for contributions at Parliament House

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024 the HACCI WA event drew politicians from both sides of the aisle, including the state’s premier, Roger Cook. They all praised the Greek business community for contributing to the economic and cultural life of Western Australia. The event was hosted by the Hon Michelle Roberts, Speaker of the legislative assembly, and the Hon Alanna Clohesy, the legislative council President. The Speaker commended the Greek business community for “their dynamic role and significant contributions to the state’s diverse business ecosystem.” Dr. Elena Limnios, the organisation’s president, said she was “excited and looking forward to a year of growth and prosperity for our Chamber in 2024”.

Energy & Renewables: Global trends and Investments

Macquarie Group’s Senior Vice President Liam Auer & Woodside Energy’s Vice President Sam Bartholomaeus

The audience was captivated hearing Auer, a senior international banking executive, speak of Greece’s regulatory, tax and employment law reforms; complemented by a reduction in bureaucracy and a renewal of the country’s banking system. Mrs Georgia Karasiotou, Consul of Greece in Perth confirmed that Greece’s revised 2030 goal for energy produced from renewable sources is set at 80 per cent; amounting to a total of 28 gigawatts (GW) of production capacity by that date, up from the current figure of 10 GW. Woodside Energy’s Vice President Sam Bartholomaeus provided a insightful account of the global shift towards renewables, and his views on this new energy paradigm. The talks closed off with an economic review and forecast courtesy from Samuel Clark, a private banker at Macquarie. A very successful event with strong audience engagement that continued during the networking drinks and canapes that followed.

AGM & Telethon Kids Institute Event

COVID 19: From global to local impacts and lessons learned, by Prof. Jonathan Carapetis, Institute Director

We had the pleasure of hearing from our member, internationally acknowledged speaker and epidemiologist Prof. Carapetis, on the world leading research at the Telethon Kids Institute. Specifically with regards to COVID 19 the Institute leads research on discovery, prevention and cure, advises the government and runs some of the most advanced modelling in the world. Over 50 members attended a guided “behind the scenes” tour of the Institute facilities by our excellent host. We thank prof. Carapetis and the Telethon Kids Institue for kindly hosting our AGM this year. We congratulate the Y12 Student Award recipients who had the opportunity to address the members on the topics of Leadership and Academic Excellence.

HACCI Back to Business

CEO and co-founder of Artrya Pty Ltd on their recent ASX listing

Our members and friends heard from John Konstantopoulos, CEO and co-founder of Artrya Pty Ltd, of their AI technology that redefines how the risk of heart disease is detected in patients and their extraordinary journey from start up to their recent listing in the ASX and their global expansion plans going forward. It was a sold-out event and an interesting presentation that intrigued the audience.

Our Patron, the Greek Consul to Perth Mrs Karasiotou, did the honors of cutting the Vasilopita.
